Billy Squier was on his way to becoming a Rock God... and then this video happened... and NowUKnow Vegas is here to comment on every excruciating, uncomfortable moment!
Two oldish guys talk about Vegas Groundhog Day and the origins of the term "MILF".
History time with Zen Master and The Hair. We explore the early 70's and the touching story of a man leaving his young family, returning because he kind of feels shitty about it and writing a song about it... That man isn't Wayne Newton, but he's singing the song... What happens to the songs protagonist? We may have answers...but we probably just have more questions...
Donny Osmond performs his classic, "Puppy Love" on Top of the Pops in 1972 and NowUKnow Vegas is here for it. How did he get his voice so high? Why were jumpsuits so popular in the 70's? When did autotune start? NowUKnow explores it all...
In the fall of 1978, ABC premiered Vega$, a detective show featuring rising star Robert Urich. The network had high hopes for the series. Created by Michael Mann, produced by Aaron Spelling and featuring Hollywood Legend Tony Curtis in the exotic, legendary locale of Las Vegas, how could this show miss!?
Well, it did miss, and it missed hard… And for good reason… This show is ridiculous.
Sexist, racist, misogynist and toxically masculine, this show ran in primetime on network television for three seasons!!!
And three glorious seasons they were…
From Urich’s devilish smile to Curtis’ scene stealing, the casual murders, the hookers with hearts of gold, the complete lack of understanding of human nature, addiction, trafficking and relationships, Vega$ is everything we have come to expect from television in the 70’s and 80’s.
So we at NowUKnow Vegas have decided, it’s time to watch Vega$ from a location 3 miles east of the Strip in the year 2023 and see how it holds up.
Spoiler alert, it’s terrible, but totally worth it because it’s all filmed here, in Las Vegas back in the day! It’s a time capsule to a time and a place that don’t exist anymore…
A strange, kinda awesome, ridiculous time capsule sure, but still worth it…
So without any further ado, the guys are watching a pre-show promo from an episode of season one of Vega$… we pick up with them already in progress…
We are watching first episode of Vega$ in all of it's 1978 splendor! It starts with twirls, twirls, so many twirls. But it doesn't stop with twirls, there's also creepy exposition and a dastardly plot between sweaty guys in the Las Vegas heat! They want to sully a pretty lady's reputation, but Dan Tanna is on the case. Will Dan Tanna and his team save the day? We will find out in our 8th part and this is only part 1... but pro
We're just getting started with Vega$!!! Our second installment introduces the "B" plot of this episode, shows off the Las Vegas patio of your dreams, features a meet-cute between two fast friends and takes us over the top with the wonder of trucker hats! You don't have to watch it all at once and it gets funny, so why not give it a chance?
Part 3 of episode 1 is here and it's dark...but Bar Mitzvah pictures, chimps, California drivers and the anchor, Paul Anka make this installment... the third one in this series... enjoy!!!
